The owner of a farm near the rural Tipton site where Getrag Corporate Group has filed preliminary plans to build a $560 million transmission plant says an Evansville contractor has offered to buy dirt to add elevation to the site.

The landowner, Kip Bergman, said the company wants 200,000 cubic yards, according to the Kokomo Tribune.

The offer is additional evidence the German transmission maker is seriously considering the site for the plant, which would create 1,200 jobs. The Tipton County Plan Commission is scheduled to review the preliminary plan April 19.

The contractor told Bergman that the architectural firm that designed the site plans to award the dirt contract April 25 and start excavating May 14.
