A new restaurant slated to open April 30 within the Conrad Indianapolis hotel will honor legendary Hoosiers on its mahogany-paneled walls.

The Capital Grille has commissioned portraits of eight prominent Indiana residents: Indianapolis Motor Speedway savior Anton “Tony” Hulman Jr.; Eli Lilly, the former Eli Lilly and Co. president and grandson of the company’s founder; actress and singer Irene Dunne; Madam C.J. Walker, the hair-products entrepreneur and philanthropist; jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery; former Gov. Robert D. Orr; Notre Dame football coach Knute Rockne; and Ermal W. Marsh, the founder of Marsh Supermarkets.

The 5,000-square-foot restaurant features seating for 180 people, two private dining rooms and a Chef’s Table for 10.

Wine enthusiasts will be able to rent personalized wine lockers. Capital Grille is owned by Atlanta-based RARE Hospitality International Inc.
