Australian Gold parent plans 55-job expansion

The Indianapolis-based parent of Australian Gold tanning lotions and tanning-salon-software-maker Helios said on Thursday it will expand operations here, creating 55 jobs.

The parent, New Sunshine, said the $9.2 million expansion will result in upgrades to production facilities and computer equipment.

A private equity fund affiliated with Stephen Hilbert purchased the businesses last year. They already employ 314 workers in Indiana.

In return for the expansion, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation is providing $420,000 in tax credits and $92,000 in training grants. The city of Indianapolis is providing a property tax abatement worth more than $126,000.

Australian Gold is nation’s biggest maker of indoor tanning lotions.
