A study by the Economic Development Corp. of Elkhart County shows Marion County is No. 1 in the state in patents filed since 1976.
Marion County, with a population of 863,596, generated 8,441 patents.
However, the recreational vehicle and manufactured house center of Elkhart County had the highest per capita: 2,008 in a population of 191,768.
