BioTown ethanol project suspended

South Dakota-based VeraSun Energy Corp. has temporarily halted construction of an ethanol plant in Reynolds, the state’s designated BioTown north of Lafayette, reports the Journal and Courier.

The company in a statement said unfavorable market conditions are the reason for the suspension. Construction could resume next year. The biorefinery would produce 110 million gallons of ethanol a year and employ 60 people once completed.
