Vanguard National Trailer Corp. has reduced its operations from two shifts to one, but did not cut workers, joining other truck-trailer makers that are responding to a slowdown in the market, reports The Herald Journal of Monticello.

Vanguard National is a unit of China International Marine Containers Co. Ltd. and has its operations in the northwestern Indiana city of Monon.

Last week, Wabash National Corp. of Lafayette cut 150 workers due to a decline in orders, a problem that is spreading across the trailer market. Great Dane Trailers of Savannah, Ga., has laid off about 260 workers in the past month at plants in Brazil and Terre Haute.
