Americans not inclined to spend rebate, poll shows

Only 18 percent of people polled in a survey by Bloomberg and the Los Angeles Times said they plan to spend the federal government’s rebate check when it comes.

Congress approved the rebate checks on the expectation that about 40 percent would spend the money in order to stimulate the economy.
