Boone visionaries foresee biotech hotbed

Economic development leaders in Boone County hope to capitalize on Lebanon’s location mid-way between Indianapolis and Purdue University to attract biotechnology firms.

Supporters are starting a committee to look into the possibility and a consultant is discussing the notion with universities, according to The Lebanon Reporter.

The idea was sparked by engineers and doctors meeting in Boone County to discuss working together to fight cancer.

Fueling interest was the December announcement that New Jersey-based Medco Health Solutions plans to build a 318,000-square-foot drug distribution center in the county. It will be located near Interstate 65 at AllPoints at Anson, a project by Indianapolis developers Browning Investments and Duke Realty Corp.
