Oops! E-mail leaks Lilly settlement talks

At least the lawyer got the same last name right.

New York Times reporter Alex Berenson was able to break the story last week that Eli Lilly and Co. was secretly negotiating a $1 billion settlement with the government because an outside Lilly lawyer accidentally emailed him the details.

The lawyer at Pepper Hamilton in Philadelphia apparently thought she was emailing the documents to Bradford Berenson, another outside attorney involved in the negotiations.

The wayward email was reported by Portfolio.com.

Indianapolis-based Lilly and the government are negotiating a possible settlement of $1 billion over whether Lilly improperly marketed the its Zyprexa schizophrenia and bipolar disorder drug for dementia and mild bipolar disorder.
