Johnson officials hope for office park

Cheryl Morphew, executive director of Johnson County Development Corp., and Greenwood Mayor Charles Henderson are discussing starting an office park southeast of the city.

The officials are learning from getting passed over for a 1,300-worker Medco Health Solutions Inc. pharmacy distribution center late last year, according to the Daily Journal of Franklin.

The New Jersey company chose Boone County rather than Johnson County, partly because Boone had a site near housing and retail. Medco also knew who its neighbors would be in Boone County. Medco is locating in AllPoints at Anson, a mixed-use development.

Greenwood – and other areas of Johnson County – also needs more parks, trails and other amenities that improve quality of life, Morphew told the newspaper.
