Whitestown, landowner squabble over right to land

April 10, 2008

The Whitestown Town Council might resort to eminent domain to force a family to sell a 100-foot strip of land from their property to allow Indianapolis Road to be relocated closer to State Road 267.

Indianapolis Road needs to be moved to make room for a stoplight to handle anticipated traffic resulting from developments including Whitestown Crossing and Medco, according to The Lebanon Reporter.

However, the Polk family wants to sell the entire 2.9-acre property, and the parties cannot agree on price.
