This is a bit of a full-circle moment for “Essential Utilities”, which was named “Philadelphia Suburban Water Company” for most of its history, then “Aqua Pennsylvania”. The original company was owned and built up by Clarence Geist from the early 20th Century until the late 1950s. He was one of the early public utility aggregators.
Geist also owned the old Indianapolis Water Company for a number of years, and he is the namesake of Geist Reservoir.
