Bankruptcy filings hold roughly steady

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Indiana handled 10,670 bankruptcy filings during the first nine months of this year—slightly fewer than a year ago—according to an American Bankruptcy Institute report released this month.

Those filings include 355 commercial and 10,315 non-commercial.

During the first nine months of 2018, the Southern District of Indiana handled 10,695 bankruptcy filings. The district covers the southern two-thirds of the state, including Indianapolis.
