Actually, you have to hang this on the Biden administration as they put this into law and effect before even considering the impact on the U.S. not being anywhere near scaled up to handle this. Yes to this administration being guilty of gutting HUD staffing. But even if they were fully staffed, the implications of BABA hang squarely on the head of the previous administration.
I would LOVE to be able to afford to build a home that was completely made of materials made in the USA. And I would love to be able to build it for low-income families, which is what we do. But the Biden administration did not take any of the practical realities of this law into consideration.
How about addressing issues on a local level where local municipalities are requiring larger lots and more expensive materials which only equate to “gingerbread” that dolls up the curb appeal but nothing for the functionality.
