At least if AI doesn’t kill us, we’ll get to live in a post 3C warmed world because we had one half of the country who is so propagandized that they refused to believe scientists releasing study after study describing what’s coming, and believed politicians’ lies instead. The EPA is protecting one interest with this proposal and it ain’t the environments.
The Republican Party is a death cult.
The cleaner power plant emissions standards sounds great for the environment.
But it also comes with a very high price tag. These carbon capture / scrubbers are very expensive and have not yet been economically scaled up.
That means that the average household will have to pay much more in monthly utility payments. A big burden for
many households. After all, the utility companies have to pass on the cost.
Natural Gas has only around half the carbon that coal does.
So possibly natural gas can replace coal as it has been.
Unfortunately some Dem states have stopped natural gas pipelines from being built into their states leaving consumers very vulnerable to much higher utility costs in the the winter months.
All of this said,
Keep the emission standards in place AND pursue nuclear energy. Unfortunately nuclear energy has been delayed because of the Dems and their supporters. But nuclear is the way to go at this time along with natural gas, solar, and wind.
Now! Lol…What are you going to do about China, India, Russia, Pakistan, ect….that still are building coal fired power plants????
Keith, you would benefit from a little googling into the bipartisan history of nuclear opposition. Hint: it ain’t just the Dems. In fact, the party platform now explicitly ENDORSES nuclear. Maybe you could enlighten us on some examples of pipeline projects being rejected or stopped? One example that comes to my mind is in Wisconsin, notably not a blue state. They stopped work on a pipeline due to repeated violations during work. Seems reasonable to me.
Finally, you’d benefit from some research into how developing countries are leading the globe in the pace of clean energy buildouts. Many of these countries are going to bear the brunt of the worst affects of climate change.
Once again, Keith, you’ve proven to be the opposite of a bipartisan, both sides guy. You jumped at the opportunity to criticize Dems for things that aren’t even germane to the article or the other comments in the thread. Republicans own this story. Deal with it.
Micheal N.
Maybe the Dems support nuclear energy now, but their opposition to it definitely slowed down progress.
New York banned a natural gas pipeline last year as reported by the Wall Street Journal. Probably the most reputable honest news source out there.
Consumers were going to bear the brunt of that decision.
Micheal, you could enlighten yourself on the utter disaster that a couple of these countries created by trying to go green so fast. It was a failure in Germany. Their industries could NOT get the energy that they needed. Utility cost skyrocketed for industry and consumers. Germany has now had to bring some coal plants back on line. The green new deal in Spain was just as bad.
Yeah, lol…..That worked out real well for Germany and Spain didn’t it.
France built out its nuclear energy decades ago.
Japan had even had to resort to coal also.
One more time! Lol…..what you going to do about China, Russia,
India, Pakistan, and other countries that still rely heavily on coal?? Himmm
Micheal N.
I said very clearly that I support the emissions standards. But the technique still needs to be scaled up to help keep costs affordable.
It amazes me how politically blinded you are and how defensive you get any time someone criticizes a Dem policy.
“What, me worry?”–Alfred E. Neuman.
For all the anger about Trump and Republicans concerning environmental issues. Let’s not forget what the Dems and their radical violent idiots did to Tesla. The biggest producer of Electric cars in the U.S. All because Dodge was finding waste in our federal government.
But the real reason was because Elon Musk bought Twitter and reinstated Trump on the message board. Elon Musk was a darling on the left until bought out Twitter and rooted out the leftwing censorship.
Nothing like our Dem friends trying you shut down free speech lol…..
What does Tesla have to do with coal plants being able to pollute as much as they want to? Stay on topic man.
Tesla gladly took billions in federal subsidies to build their charging network then changed their minds when the money came with strings attached like “you can’t just limit charging to your cars”.
It’s the fault of Democrats that Musk red-pilled himself and angered his own customer base hopped up on ketamine?
Leftwing censorship? Trump had gotten kid gloves for a decade, Keith. Biden was too addled to be President. Sure he was. Trump shows two to three times a day he has dementia and … no mention of it.
“The only control or ‘guardrails’ that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!”
If Biden posted that you’d have lost your mind. Crickets, Keith.
Joe B.
I’m not defending Trump on this.
I’m simply pointing out points of consideration.
I’ve never once heard you or
Micheal N. ever critique or criticize the Dem establishment or their policies. Not once!
I criticize Trump and the Republican Party all the time.
Joe B.
The Dems lost their minds when Musk bought Twitter and put Trump back on the boards and exposed government censorship. The journalist that exposed this were all libs.
The Dems have a real credibility problem when it comes to free speech.
