Firms rally to fill COVID-19 needs

In response to the pandemic, a litany of firms with health care expertise that are headquartered in the state or with a major presence here stepped up to help.

In addition to Roche Diagnostics, whose COVID-19 test is featured on page 15A, the companies included:

Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly and Co., which is offering free, drive-thru COVID-19 testing for health care workers and first responders at its headquarters.

Ireland-based Medtronic, which announced a 40% increase in ventilator production.

Kingsford Heights-based Models Plus, an anatomical-model manufacturer, which provided its machine shop and laser-cut equipment to combat the shortage of personal protective equipment and ventilators in the state.

Carmel-based medical device firm Cervella, which provided supplies and equipment to fight the shortage of PPE in the state.

Knox-based Hoosier Custom Plastics, which provided large quantities of face shields and N95 masks.

Indianapolis-based product-development firm Avance, which provided its design, prototyping and manufacturing services to help with the shortage of PPE and ventilators in the state.•
