Another woke joke!
While well intended, this is the kind of bureaucracy that chokes off businesses. Europe is drowning in requirements like this. It is concerning that the city council and the mayor have not put a stop to this. Canary in the colemine kind of thing.
It would be awesome if the City could do just a single thing well before creating more pointless bureaucracy like this.
Love this highlight from the article- “Carmel-based Hokanson Cos. manages about 900 properties nationwide, with a handful in Indianapolis. Chris Horsley, president and CEO of Hokanson, said the ordinance is an unnecessary burden because property managers already aim for energy efficiency.
“It’s like being a bank and not reconciling your books. It’s what you do,” Horsley told IBJ. “If somebody doesn’t, you don’t have to have the government tell you.” It’s unclear what value the program has for taxpayers and how the city plans to use the data, he added.”
Meanwhile, the city + Cultural Trail re-did the intersection at College and Massachusetts avenues in such a way that southbound traffic is pointed directly at pedestrians, resulting in one fatality (so far). How about some basic competent governance before we start piling on these BS regulations?
