The thing that made the original Angie’s list so good, it was a paid membership that vetted reviews by customers. It started to fall apart when they tried to milk the contractors for extra revenue by offering them priority placements in exchange for payments. When it went public, it became nearly worthless. Google reviews were just as effective.
I’m not sure how an exclusively vetted but so limited pool of vendors will be. The kind of contractors that would come downtown to work on a 125 year old Victorian is really different than the guys that work on new homes in Carmel or Geist. Angie’s list used to help me find those guys that don’t mind crooked floors and three different types of plumbing.
