  1. Lke it or not, nuclear is what is needed for clean, reliable energy especially as Indiana continues to add energy consuming data centers.

  2. Laws are going to re-open all of Indianas coal mines too….

    It’s all magical thinking at the state house. Were giving away Indiana’s power grid to data center operators and then wring our hands when we realize we never had a plan to support the give-away.

  3. When you look at power demand increases – straight MegaWatts – the source of this growth in power demand cannot be met by wind/solar… A 2023 report outlined the power generation of 90,046,880 Mega WH (90,047 GigaWH) by the sources as;

    1. Coal: 40.6 GW (42.8%)
    2. Natural Gas: 38.4 GW (40.5%)
    3. Wind: 9.8 GW (10.3%)
    4. Solar: 3.1 GW (3.27%)
    5. Hydroelectric: 0.5 GW (0.49%)
    6. Biomass: 0.23 GW (0.24%)
    7. Petroleum: 0.1 GW (0.10%)

    By 2030 Indiana will need an additional 7 to 14 GW and by 2035 another 30 GW
    Regardless of the why Indiana needs it, be it EV’s or Data Centers, we have to increase our baseline power generating capacity.

    We are looking at the need to grow the baseline power generation AND increase that growth rate by 50% to 60% in the next 10 years. It would be nearly impossible to do that with Coal and/or Natural Gas alone. Without maturing the SMR technology, we will be facing economic stagnation.
