VisionQuest Eyecare plans to build a $2.8 million office in Greenwood and hire additional staff after receiving economic development incentives from the city.

The Greenwood Common Council this week voted unanimously to approve the creation of an economic revitalization area and provide a real property tax abatement for the local optometry business.

VisionQuest, 1160 N. State Road 135, plans to build the 9,600-square-foot facility on State Road 135, just south of Stones Crossing Road. The business, which already employs more than 25 people, plans to add six employees making an average salary of $70,000 per year when the new site opens.

“We’ve had great success since moving our business to Greenwood about 10 years ago,” said Dr. Christopher Browning, doctor of optometry at VisionQuest, in written remarks. “Establishing and growing our business in Greenwood has been a dream and I appreciate the city’s focus on supporting small businesses. The community has been wonderful to us, and I look forward to future growth opportunities here.”

VisionQuest also has an office in McCordsville, at 13840 E. 96th St.
