The Big Ten men’s and women’s basketball tournaments are underway in Indianapolis in advance of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament starting here next week.
The women’s NCAA tournament will be in San Antonio.
On Thursday, the Michigan State defeated No. 9 Indiana University, ousting it from the tournament in a year when the Hoosiers had hopes of advancing to the championship game.
Indiana (18-5) had a nine-game win streak snapped, but is still assured of an NCAA Tournament berth.
The Spartans (15-7), who enhanced their bid for an NCAA Tournament berth win the win, advanced to face Iowa in Friday’s semifinals.
