  1. Allowing nurse practitioners and physicians assistance to actually practice what a concept. Expect major pushback from Dr. Feldman who seems to view all NPs and PAs as inept and incompetent. The state legislature needs to stop listening to him and those like minded and allow NPs and PAs to practice out from under direct supervision of an MD.

    1. Along with a relative decline in household income compared to the rest of the country.

But hey…low taxes! No raises for state employees!

  2. CITIZENS OF INDIANA: THIS AIN’T ROCKET SCIENCE!!!!!!!!

The data is starring us in the face:

    1. All of the surrounding States have more MEDICAL SCHOOLS: Illinois has 7, Michigan has 5, Ohio has 6 and Kentucky has 2. This does not include each of the State has at least one osteopathic medical school.
    2. All of the surrounding States have more residency programs to train primary care physicians.

No wonder all of the major healthcare assessments of for Indiana indicates how really sick we are.

Of course, the Governor and the Legislature are doing nothing to correct this healthcare crisis. Indiana needs at least two more medical schools, i.e. Purdue and Notre Dame as a start. Our State desperately needs more health care workers of ALL types as well. Indiana WAKE UP!!! Phillip D. Toth, MD, FACP
