AR: Have you actually read the Constitution and it’s history instead of just the talking points the party apparatchiks feed you? The 14th amendment was written in 1866 and ratified in 1868 to protect recently freed slaves; NOT to endorse people crossing the border illegally to have their children here and thereby creating an anchor baby.

The first sentence of Section 1 says “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.” If you read the entire amendment it says nothing about slavery.

Dominic – the debate around the amendment was clear that those who wrote the 14th Amendment intended it to apply to more than just slaves.
The reason Wong Kim Ark was decided the way it was in 1898, and why the law has been so settled for over 100 years, is because of that clarity.

I know what it means and why it was added to the Constitution.
I’ve listened to PHD level historians and legal experts.

My point was not the decision, but everyone on the left constantly demeaning and wanting to completely upend the Supreme Court every time they don’t get their way on something. Rolling things back? Not hardly!! It’s about steadying the ship so it doesn’t sink. In one year nearly half of the income that the government takes in annually will be to pay only the interest on our national debt.
People that pay no federal income taxes ( almost 50% ) don’t give a dam.
So yes! Some things do need to be rolled back or decreased.
And just taxing the rich will not solve anything. There’s an entitlement mentality with the Dems.
Keith, the modern re-interpretation of the Second Amendment only dates back around 40 years.
It will eventually click for you. An actual serious Republican on the deficit would have cut those services like DOGE did and paired them with tax increases. What actually happened is those cuts in services went to pay for … yet another tax cut for the wealthy. It happens every time with Republicans and folks keep thinking the issue is they haven’t cut enough. Maybe … wait for it … the issue is we should stop cutting taxes.

You talk about how terrible other countries are. They don’t have to worry about one car crash that isn’t their fault bankrupting them. They don’t have to sweat childcare or healthcare or retirement.
