Historic flooding in central Indiana has left at least seven people dead and driven hundreds from their homes. Officials in both Marion and Hamilton County said Sunday that floodwaters from Indianapolis’ White River are receding, and some disaster-relief efforts have begun.

Following is a roundup of organizations seeking monetary assistance, donations of goods and volunteers to help those impacted by the flooding.

Financial assistance requests

Indianapolis Foundation: Accepting financial donations that will be divvied up for local organizations helping people affected by the flooding in Indianapolis.

Hamilton County Community Foundation: Hamilton County is accepting donations at hamiltoncountycf.org.

Other counties: The Indiana Philanthropy Alliance has compiled a list of community foundations collecting disaster relief funds, from Fayette County to the Whitewater Valley.

Ravenswood: The north-side Indianapolis neighborhood has a GoFundMe “to help our neighbors with immediate needs—including food, clothing, temporary housing, transportation, household essentials, cleanup supplies, and other unexpected expenses,” creator Kat Stuart wrote.

Town of Rocky Ripple: The small town near Butler University saw more than 70 houses and the town hall overtaken by floodwaters. It is accepting donations through a GoFundMe set up by Rocky Ripple Town Council President Randy Sanders. The money will go directly to families who need help with supplies and cleanup and to help the town cover community cleanup efforts and related expenses from the flooding, according to the description.

Requests for items, volunteers

Washington Township Adult Center: At 8401 Westfield Blvd, Door 20, the center is in need of items including water, prepackaged snacks, clothing, hygiene products, towels, phone chargers and power banks, cleaning supplies, tarps, and family-focused necessities like diapers, wipes and baby formula and kid-friendly games and activities. The shelter is also encouraging monetary donations to The American National Red Cross.

SERVE Village: The Noblesville nonprofit is seeking volunteers to assist in areas including cleanup, mucking out, supply distribution, and direct neighbor support. It has a sign-up sheet for shifts and a volunteer interest Google Form where those interested can detail availability and capacity. Currently, the organization is not accepting donations.

St. Luke’s United Methodist Church: The north-side church is accepting financial assistance for flood relief efforts, but also has a list of specific cleaning supplies and opportunities for volunteers to assemble and deliver buckets. The church has locations at 100 W. 86th St. and 6185 Guilford Ave.
