Readings of plays are planned at the Phoenix Theatre Cultural Center, Indianapolis Repertory Theatre, Storefront Theatre and Fonseca Theatre.
The 36-year-old actor, who grew up in Indianapolis and lives in Fishers, made his on-screen debut more than a decade ago.
“Toni Stone,” a play based on a woman who joined the roster of Negro League baseball’s Indianapolis Clowns in 1953, will serve as the debut production of the Indianapolis Black Theatre Co.
But the outcome is a major relief for SAG-AFTRA leaders and an entertainment industry that is attempting to return to normal after months of labor strife. And it brings a final, official end to Hollywood labor’s most tumultuous year in half a century, with two historic strikes that shook the industry.
At nearly four months, it was by far the longest strike ever for film and television actors.
The writers walked off the job May 2 over issues including the size of staffs on shows, long-term payment for their work and the use of artificial intelligence in scripts.
