St. Vincent Hospital refused to accommodate a worker who had lifting restrictions due to a disability, then fired her in violation of federal law, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission says in a lawsuit filed Tuesday.
The Indian-born doctor is seeking past and future pay, in addition to other damages, for enduring what she considers harassment and discrimination while a resident at the Indianapolis hospital.
Michael Lewis, 53, filed a complaint with the Indianapolis office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission Aug. 13 and sued Huntington Oct. 15 in Marion Superior Court.
