A central Indiana city has sold off a park even though it was named for the mayor's family.

Indiana Wesleyan University bought the five-acre Seybold Park from the city of Marion last month for $143,000. The university
also is leasing the land where the park's pool was located after spending about $100,000 to demolish the pool, which was
closed in 2005.

Indiana Wesleyan vice president Brendan Bowen says the land will be used for intramural sports teams and outdoor band programs.

Mayor Wayne Seybold says it would have cost more than $150,000 to fix the pool and that money from the land sale will be
spent on other city parks.

Seybold and his sister Kim finished 10th in pairs figure skating in the 1988 Winter Olympics.
