Airport Authority to auction castoffs

December 11, 2010

Forget a ribbon-wrapped Lexus for the holidays when you can land a deal on an aircraft tow tractor or an aerial boom lift, at the annual Indianapolis Airport Authority auction.

The authority’s eclectic collection starts crossing the block Dec. 14 at 10 a.m. at the Indianapolis Maintenance Center, 2745 South Hoffman Road, via the “IMC Deliveries Gate”.

Goods can be previewed on Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Key Auctioneers, of Avon, will move goods that also include mowing equipment, work benches, televisions, cargo vans and golf carts.

Smaller items include fluorescent work lights aircraft mechanics used to inspect fuel tanks, and numerous carts of cathode-ray computer monitors that could appeal to materials recyclers.

Last year’s auction, of items at the former passenger terminal, raised $1 million in proceeds.
