The Census Bureau said Wednesday it will provide summaries of population totals, as well as data on race and voting age for multiple areas within the state such as census tracts, voting districts, cities, counties and school districts.
The Census Bureau is required by law to provide redistricting data to the 50 states no later than April 1 of the year following the census. The data first go to a state's leadership, such as the governor and majority and minority leaders in the state legislative body. It's then released to the public.
Republicans control both chambers of the General Assembly that will use the data to redraw legislative and congressional districts.
