Metal-framing plant closing to cost 105 jobs

More than 100 workers of Dietrich Industries Inc. will lose their jobs when the Columbus, Ohio-based company closes a plant in Hammond in the summer.

The layoffs involving 105 employees are expected to begin after June 26, Dietrich said in a notice posted on the Indiana Department of Workforce Development website on Friday.

With 40 plants, Dietrich is North America’s largest manufacturer of metal framing and finish products, according to the company’s website.

Its products are used in schools, shopping centers and apartment buildings. Dietrich is a subsidiary of Columbus, Ohio-based Worthington Industries Co.
