Recount panel to decide White case Tuesday

The Indiana Recount Commission will decide Tuesday whether Republican Secretary of State Charlie White is eligible to hold office amid allegations that he incorrectly used his ex-wife's address for his voter registration.

A ruling against White would invalidate his election and force his removal from office. He also could face jail time if convicted in a separate criminal case. White faces seven felony counts including voter fraud and perjury.

Democrats say White listed a new condo as his address on many documents, but listed his ex-wife's on his voter registration form. White has chalked up the error to his complicated personal life and busy schedule.

The commission plans to meet Tuesday on the issue instead of Thursday as previously scheduled. The panel includes two Republicans and one Democrat.
