Smoking, family values inconsistent at best

Keywords Opinion

I don’t understand how Angel Rivera [May 21 Forefront] can write that Ryan Vaughn is a man of family values. He voted down an amendment to ban smoking so kids could be allowed into “private clubs” (see Louis Mahern’s Forefront column) so they may be directly exposed to secondhand smoke and begin developing cancer. Ryan did nothing more than promote partisan politics, with both children and other club workers suffering by his actions. No one with family values would support this backward view. He was justly rewarded by our esteemed mayor with an appointment to chief of staff. This is nothing more than hypocritical partisan politics. As a Republican, I find their actions reprehensible and embarrassing.
