Chinese business advisers set to scout Indiana sites

A group of 20 advisers to Chinese businesses looking to expand in the United States plan to visit several Indiana sites starting Wednesday.

The delegation from China's Ministry of Commerce, sponsored by Purdue University and the Indiana Economic Development Corp., is scheduled to visit Indianapolis on Wednesday and Thursday, Columbus on Friday, French Lick on Saturday, and Lafayette on Sunday and Monday.

The group's only other visits in the U.S. will be to New York City and Silicon Valley.

"This is a high-powered group sponsored by the central government that can have a big influence on where new investment goes," Mark Van Fleet, Purdue's executive director of global business engagement, said in a prepared statement.
