Sporting goods retailer Sports Authority said Monday it has hired Jeremy Aguilar as its chief financial officer.

Aguilar, 39, had been CFO at appliance and electronics chain HHGregg Inc. through Jan. 31. He replaces former Sports Authority CFO Tom Hendrickson, 59, who retired from the company.

Sports Authority, which is based in Englewood, Colo., is privately owned. It operates 465 stores around the country.

HHGregg announced last month that Andrew Giesler would be its interim CFO until a permanent replacement is announced. The Indianapolis-based company sells applances, tablets and televisions in its 228 stores.
