German firm chooses Indy for North American expansion

A Germany-based transportation firm plans to establish its first North American office in Indianapolis, it announced Monday morning.

LKE Group expects to operate out of the Purdue Research Park of Indianapolis at Ameriplex, due south and across Interstate 70 from the Indianapolis International Airport. The firm plans to hire 15 workers by 2019, according to the Indy Chamber, which assisted LKE with its site selction process.

LKE makes products that can be used to transport materials, such as trolleys, train systems, pallet trucks, delivery carts and specialized containers. It supports industries such as aviation, automotive, pharmaceutical and food logistics.

The expansion is a response to client demand outside of Europe. The firm decided to locate its North American office in Indianapolis in part due to its central location.

Indy Chamber initially indicated that LKE would hire 35 workers, but revised the figure early Monday afternoon.
