Attempts are being made to invalidate serious objections councilors have raised to the Blue Indy car share program as election-year politics. That accusation in itself reeks of politicking. In the discussion of the city’s contract with Blue Indy, it is important to harken back to the IURC’s well-reasoned arguments for refusing the joint request of a rate increase by Indianapolis Power & Light, Blue Indy and the city. Commissioners cited several examples of a lack of due diligence by the petitioners that the great financial investment in this program had been thoroughly vetted to help ensure that the promised benefits would not end up in failure, which would ultimately negatively burden citizens.
