Construction set to start on Purdue tech center in Anderson

Construction of a Purdue University technology education center is expected to start soon in Anderson.

Groundbreaking for the Purdue Polytechnic and Maker Space project is set for Sept. 15, the Herald Bulletin of Anderson reported. Plans call for the construction of a 94,000-square-foot facility, with completion expected in late 2016.

The Anderson Redevelopment Commission approved the sale of nearly 12 acres to the Flagship Enterprise Center for the project,

Purdue Polytechnic Anderson will lease 44,000 square feet, and the remaining 50,000 square feet will be used for startup companies.

Purdue has signed a 15-year lease on the space.
