Veteran economic development official Mike Dellinger has been named executive director of the Morgan County Economic Development Corp., the not-for-profit's board announced Monday.

Dellinger served in numerous economic positions in the Indianapolis area before departing the state eight years ago.

He will leave his current role as executive director of Advance Southwest Iowa Corp. to take the Morgan County position May 2.

Dellinger was director of business development for the Indy Partnership from 2006 to 2008 before moving to Yankton, South Dakota, where he spent five years leading economic development efforts.

He previously was joint executive director of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and the Shelby County Development Corp. (1995 to 2002) and director of community development in Fishers.

"We are very pleased to bring in a professional of Mike's caliber with knowledge of the Indy region to lead Morgan County's economic development efforts," MCEDC chairman Terry Brock said in a written statement.
