LETTER: For-sale housing needed for downtown growth

With apartments in downtown Indianapolis now ubiquitous, it is refreshing to see the local developer Onyx+East taking the lead on building more of the much-needed for-sale housing [Developer embarking on three downtown for-sale housing projects, IBJ.com, Jan. 3].

As a Realtor with years of prior downtown Indianapolis leasing experience, I know firsthand that many current downtown renters would like to buy downtown—but the limited inventory hinders that move.

It is also essential that we provide a sufficient number of for-sale condos and houses downtown if we want to keep attracting and retaining top talent to our city.  A new wave of Salesforce and Cummins employees are soon to start work downtown, and we need to provide them with more local housing options than just apartments.
