Mary Beth Schneider’s Forefront column [Amid the White House meltdown, where is Congress? Sept. 14] is what I call an open and honest evaluation of what is happening in Washington.

Your analysis pokes holes in a Congress that is letting non-elected officials determine what is right or wrong with our country and have very little if any authority to do so.

No one except the outliers in both parties or the screamers have any public voice in this discussion, whereas the elected politicians hide behind their cloistered halls in quiet murmurs about what everyone else is doing.

I don’t think this is a presidential crisis, but as you pointed out a congressional ineptness that always shows its ugly side when times become difficult.
