EDITORIAL: IBJ’s Wish List provides an easy way to give

Keywords Editorials / Opinion

Companies routinely move into new office space and in the process part with furniture and other office trappings they can’t—or don’t want to—take along. Sadly, many of those items are added to our waste stream even though they’re not at the end of their useful life.

In fact, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates 9 million tons of office furniture is going to landfills annually in the United States.

IBJ is proud to offer an alternative.

Our Holiday Wish List, published weekly from Dec. 7 through Dec. 21, itemizes the needs of Indianapolis-area not-for-profits, giving companies a place to find worthy recipients of their cast-offs.

Now is the time for not-for-profits to send us a list of what they need. Requests are limited to five items or services (not cash) and must include the name of the organization, contact person’s name, telephone number and email address. Submit requests at ibj.com/wish-list-submission.

Readers, this is an opportunity for you or your business to make a tax-deductible gift in the spirit of the season. Please consult our Holiday Wish List later this month and find out if you can make a not-for-profit’s wish come true.•
