Republican caucus picks new Indiana House member

Former gubernatorial aide Dollyne Sherman was selected by a Republican caucus Tuesday to serve out the remainder of State Rep. Dave Frizzell’s term in the General Assembly.

Frizzell announced in April that he planned to retire June 30 after representing House District 93, which includes portions of Johnson and Marion counties, since 1992.

Sherman worked for Govs. Robert Orr and Mitch Daniels, along with U.S. Rep. Susan Brooks. She defeated six other candidates to complete Frizzell's term, which runs until the November 2020 election.

Republicans hold a commanding 67-33 House majority.
