Those who don’t study the past are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.
Heck, even watching Ferris Bueller’s Day Off would have taught you tariffs were bad. Anyone? Anyone? Anyone?
And this is the RECENT past. Per Michael Hicks of BSU, the 45th President’s tariffs were sending the Indiana economy into recession in 2019, before the pandemic.
I wonder if anyone reads Orwell in school anymore. We are living “1984”.
Just remember, when the economy goes into the dumper, we’re somehow supposed to believe this is Joe Biden‘s fault.
Because Dear Leader can only get credit, not blame.
That’s OK, the Trumpies will keep claiming their vote is working. Sheep…
But 47 will find money for tax breaks for the rich so they won’t be required to “bear with me”.
Reminds me of the old, laughable maxim: “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”
Used to be it mocked do-nothing, lower lever bureaucrats. Now it mocks our president.
He will arrange subsidies to those directly affected by the other nations’ retaliatory tariffs. The farmers, distillers, etc. (large numbers of whom were his base) will not suffer the consequences of their actions in getting him elected.
He did last time, and farmers are now doubly hooked on that aid. Lots of them also had USAID contracts which he tried to back out on … sticking them with the bill.
You don’t get to claim the government can’t work because you actively sabotage the government from working.
Sort of combined comedy / tragedy I guess. Will be funny to watch the trumpers twirl and pirouette to support the latest whim from their “mercurial” leader, while the rest of us recall with horror that the current leader of the world’s largest economy has six bankruptcies and dozens of failed businesses under his belt.
And under King Donald and his Muskrat, the rich get richer and the middle class and poor get poorer. Trump would not know the truth if it slapped him in the face. He and Musk are both deranged and believe their own BS to the point they have no concept of reality.
