Why limit this to gas and not include diesel?
I hate the higher fuel prices, but what additional programs are we going to cut next year to cover the lost road funding?
This is starting to look like a Trump loyalist trying to prop up his part of the economy over of the lack of any coherent foreign or domestic policy.
Probably everything but the Mid States Corridor, sadly …
“New conditions” being Trump’s on again off again war. Also this extended tax holiday while nice, will come back in the future with lost road maintenance funds.
The savings will be
appreciated by Hoosiers having to pay more at the pump, but this fools no one that this is nothing more than a thinly veiled bandaid to help hide the stupidity of the war started by his role model, DJT.

Does anyone really think that Braun is actually concerned about the plight of working-class Hoosiers when it comes to the cost of gasoline or is it that he’s already cost all Hoosiers over $500M in his attempt to shield Trump from criticism of his ill-advised war with Iran as suggested above by Dan M? If anyone believes it’s the former, they should ask the nearly 350,000 Hoosiers who have lost Medicaid coverage since Trump’s 2025 inauguration as to where Braun’s heart is when it comes to the plight of working-class Hoosiers. Easy answer.
The Governor needs a new lawyer not named Rokita. This move is what Lawyer is called “pretextual“. Should we thank the good folks of Canada for having wildfires at just the right time the governor needs to consult competent COUNSEL and obey the law which he had previously recognized as limiting his ability to extend his emergency order. Meanwhile, I’m enjoying paying only $.75 to a dollar more than it would’ve been expected rather than an additional $.60 per gallon
Oil is $75 a barrel right now. Are we going to declare emergencies and implement tax holidays every time oil is at or above $75 to make it marginally cheaper for folks to fill up their 15-20 mpg SUV/truck before their 45 minute commute?

I wasn’t aware that there was a new emergency. Also, can it be an emergency when the cause is a federal administration that this state voted for?
Surplus of $2Billion? Is that the money that was cut from schools across the state? Or money that could be used to fix roads, not bandaid potholes?
To be honest, I enjoy the $50 savings a week, but to what cost for the community.
Just a reminder to all that want to pay higher taxes. You can send the government more money than your required. They WILL take it. Stop complaining and just send in all the additional funds you want.
Just a reminder that a gas taxes “holiday” does not generally lower the price consumers pay in the equivalent of the amount of the taxes freeze because the tax is imposed at the distributor level. Distributors are not required to pass the savings on to consumers, and usually about 65% of the savings gets passed down. Also, prices do not adjust automatically, so there is a delay in receiving these savings. The suspended Indiana gas sales tax is usually betweeen 17-24 cents a gallon, which means consumers save approximately 11-16 cents a gallon, which means the average consumer is saving about $1.65 to $2.25 total when they completely fill up the tank. You can argue “every little bit helps,” but in this case, “every little bit” hurts the states ability to properly fund roads a lot more than it helps consumers. And, ultimately, the same consumers receiving modest savings on the cost of gas will suffer a lot more later when.they have to drive on inadequately maintained roads.
So if I contribute additional funds to help provide better roads, and you don’t, can we charge you for using our roads? Use license plate readers to find out names, check them against a database of additional funds providers, and bill anyone who’s not on the list?
Otherwise,I think you’re just a cheapskate freeloader who wants everyone else to foot the bill to make your life easier…
This is why Republicans are so bad when it comes to fiscal policy and fiscal responsibility. They want all of the stuff but want it for free.

Christopher B. – you’re forgetting the State Excise tax on gas. $0.37 per gallon is also suspended. That’s another $5.55 on your 15 gallon fill-up making for a tidy $7.00 + savings. That can make a difference to a lot of people.
How close an agreement seems to be based on who you want to believe. And to be honest, I do not trust Iran or Trump to be telling the truth.
