Since the taxpayers are still paying for staff and maintenance on the Governor’s Mansion he chooses not to occupy, the least he could do is pay his own helicopter transport costs.
After all, his whole schtick is that he wants state government to do more with less.
What does the ISP use the helicopter for other than training and transporting the Governor?
Actually a great deal, they use the birds for supporting local law enforcement agencies and if I am correct, it is the only police agency with helicopters in the state after Indianapolis ended their helicopter program along with the local TV stations. They were in Hamilton County to assist in the search for the fugitive who shot at Westfield Police two weeks ago. They have also provided other assistance to police agencies in central Indiana.
He’s disgusting. Can’t stand him. Typical awful Republican.
“it would have “incurred” those costs whether or not Braun had used the Indiana State Police helicopter, because those flight hours were necessary “to satisfy (the Federal Aviation Administration’s) mandated hours requirements.”
So why is this a story?
I am not a fan of Governor Braun. I did not vote for him. But I have absolutely no problem with this use of the helicopter. A governor is on call 24 hours a day. If this makes more efficient use of his time, I am 100% in favor.
I would buy this argument if he were being flown to emergency situations, but he’s not. He’s being flown to photo ops because Baby Braun is either too chicken or too racist/classist to live in Indianapolis. I don’t find this acceptable.
If he didn’t want to live in Indianapolis, he shouldn’t have run for governor. This is the same governor who got rid of work from home for state employees, but is spending government money so he can do the same.
Localities need to “find efficiencies” because of Braun’s property tax break to himself, but Braun won’t even live in the Governor’s Mansion and is being flown around. What an elitist pig.
Imagine being a Nazi with the name Braun. Who’d ever thunk it?
Sounds like there are a lot of hateful, jealous readers out there… I think this is politics as usual. Both parties do this. Some of this is justified and some may be questionable, but what is good for the goose is good for the gander. Democrats and Republican politicians do this regularly, at every level: city, state, and federal. The mayor of LA was in Africa when the wildfires broke out. Not sure how that was helping anyone in LA. A senator from Maryland flew to a prison in El Salvador to try to seek the freedom of an criminal, illegal alien who was deported. I did not see or hear anyone on the left criticizing this politician, nor the liberal media either. No objectivity in these remarks.
What nonsense. You don’t get to run for government office claiming you’re gonna fix the problems with government and continue to do the same things that previous elected officials did. He’s a hypocrite, full stop.
Why would the left criticize a politician helping to free a wrongfully detained man sent to a foreign gulag with no due process? No objectivity in a remark indeed
This helicopter ride is brought to you by the guy who said in his 2025 State of the State Address: “All governments need to do more with less.”
This is the same group where his Lt. Governor and Secretary of State purchaser new luxery vehicles. The SOS has asked for an increase in funds while everyone else has cuts and I do not want for forget Mr. Rokita who is costing us more than the Governor’s helecopter rides because of his ego is overriding his mouth.
Publicly funded resources for me but not for thee
why is this such a story? Is $23,000 that would’ve been incurred regardless a dollar amount worth researching and writing about? Why not delve into the frivolous spending of our incompetent mayor and his corrupt and 80 proof administration.
