Letter: City’s boards lack diversity

Last week’s IBJ Focus on “Diversity in Business” hit on a few good points about recruiting minorities to our local not-for-profit boards of directors. However, that focus does not even come close to breaking down long term, glass ceilings preventing our African American sisters and brothers to serve on for-profit business boards of directors, let alone C-suites.

Look at the membership of our local boards, both public and private. My suspicion is there are very few members of our African American community who serve on these boards. Until we see these ceilings crashed, we will be talking about systemic racism for generations in this city I love.
