4 thoughts on “Column: WNBA officiating no longer an annoyance—it’s a threat to the game

  1. The officiating of WNBA games is the worst of any sport at any level I’d ever watched and it’s not even close. It’s sad and mind blowing at times.

    1. It’s only slightly better than the NBA, whose referees seem to love being chummy with players.

It’s a quality-control issue, top to bottom. It will result in more injuries, but…

Whatever level of referee competence…is it TOO much to ask for consistency within the same game?

  2. The WNBA has players who are jealous of Clark and the “new stars” who they believe did not pay their dues so they show it by constantly being physical with them. Problem is, the new stars are who raised the pay and advantages for the league and not just themselves. The comish has to clamp down on her refs AND players committing the fowls or risk losing everything and becoming second rate again.
