Indiana reports 1,050 COVID-19 cases as testing surges

The Indiana State Department of Health on Friday reported 1,050 new COVID-19 cases, the highest number of new cases in the daily report since Saturday.

The rise in cases came amid a big jump in testing. The department reported the testing of 13,139 new individuals, only the third time that daily testing has exceeded 13,000 individuals.

The state’s 7-day testing-positivity rate dipped to 7.8% on Friday and the overall testing-positivity rate stayed at 8.8%.
