Indiana reports 400 new COVID cases, five more deaths

The Indiana State Department of Health on Friday reported 400 new COVID-19 cases, the second day in a row that new cases reached at least 400.

The state health department also reported five new deaths from COVID-19, increasing the cumulative death tally to 13,487. The state has averaged three deaths per day from COVID over the past seven days.

Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 remained at 418 on Thursday for the second straight day. Hospitalizations are down from a recent high of 1,019 on May 4. The pandemic-high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.

The state said more than 2.85 million Hoosiers have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. More than 2.82 million had received the first dose of a two-dose vaccination.

Following are the latest COVID-19 numbers from the Indiana State Department of Health. The department updates its data daily based on information received through 11:59 p.m. the previous day. The department no longer issues reports on Saturday and Sunday.
