Indiana reports 582 new COVID-19 cases, 31 more deaths

The Indiana State Department of Health on Tuesday reported 582 new cases of COVID-19. New cases have been below 1,000 eight times over the past 10 days.

The state also reported 31 new deaths due to the coronavirus. Reported deaths due to COVID-19 have exceeded single digits in 141 of the past 142 days.

The department said 3,235 new individuals were tested Monday.

Statewide hospitalizations due to COVID-19 ticked up from 763 on Sunday to 765 on Monday. The high mark was 3,460, set on Nov. 30.

The state said more than 587,000 Hoosiers had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Tuesday at 5 a.m. More than 1 million had received the first dose of a vaccination.
